I had a lovely time at Azabu Retreat & Spa. The location amongst the trees offered a peaceful escape, and I really enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere and amenities. However, the mattress in my room felt a bit hard, and I wished for a more comfortable reading chair. Overall, it was a good stay, perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature.

My room overlooked the stunning rainforest and had a lovely balcony that made me feel like I was living in a tree house. It was cozy yet airy, and I loved listening to the surrounding birdlife. However, I found the bed a bit hard and could have used a more comfortable chair for relaxing.
Service
9.0
The service was fantastic; Tiff, the owner's daughter, was incredibly welcoming and helpful, picking me up and offering great recommendations. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring I had everything I needed throughout my stay.
Location
10.0
Located just a 10-minute drive from Byron, the retreat felt secluded and serene, surrounded by beautiful forest views. It was close enough to town for quick visits but far enough to enjoy the tranquility away from the hustle.
Dining
9.0
Breakfast was delivered to my balcony and was absolutely delicious. The quality of food was fantastic, easily rivaling what you’d expect from a five-star hotel. There was also a voucher available for a café in town if I felt like venturing out.
Facilities
8.0
I really enjoyed the facilities, especially the clean pool area and the spa services. They had electric bikes available for exploring the area, which added a fun twist to my stay. Just a minor note, though; I felt the retreat was a bit on the expensive side for what was offered.

5.0/10

I stayed at Azabu Retreat & Spa and while the location was peaceful and offered beautiful surroundings, my experience was overshadowed by several issues. The room I had was not well-maintained, with cleanliness and decor falling short of expectations. Despite some welcoming service, I encountered significant drawbacks that made my stay less enjoyable.

Rooms
5.0
The room was small and poorly maintained, with dust and cobwebs everywhere. A broken shower head added to the discomfort, and the balcony was disappointing. Overall, it felt cramped and not worth the price I paid.
Service
5.0
The service was friendly and welcoming, but I found it lacking in responsiveness when I had issues during my stay. While the hosts tried to assist, it seemed like guest relations were not a priority for them.
Location
7.0
The location provided a nice sense of seclusion, surrounded by lush forest, which I appreciated. However, the drive to Byron Bay felt somewhat inconvenient, especially at night due to the lack of streetlights.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was decent, with a delicious omelette on one day, but other meals fell flat. I was hoping for a more consistent dining experience given the overall boutique setting.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities felt neglected, with an uninviting pool area that didn’t entice me to use it. Overall, the amenities were disappointing and did not match the retreat's advertised appeal.

My stay at Azabu Retreat & Spa was a good escape. The ambiance was incredibly serene, though I did notice a bit of wear in the room itself. Overall, I felt well cared for by the staff, particularly TP, who was attentive and friendly. I truly enjoyed the spa treatments, which were absolutely worth it.

I stayed in the King Room, which had a lovely view of the forest. It felt cozy, though a little run down in places. The separation of the living area was a nice surprise.

TP, the owner, made my stay comfortable and welcoming. He went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, including amazing breakfasts.
Location

The retreat's secluded location was perfect for a peaceful getaway. It's close enough to Byron Bay for convenience while still feeling tucked away in nature.

I enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was beautifully prepared. The option of a charcuterie board for dinner was a lovely touch.

The spa treatments were heavenly and well worth the price. However, I did notice a few maintenance issues that could use attention.

I had a wonderful time at Azabu Retreat & Spa. The serene setting amidst the beautiful forest provided a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay. I enjoyed the excellent service, especially the delicious breakfast, although I felt the rooms could use a little updating. Overall, though, it was a peaceful and enjoyable stay away from the crowds.

The Queen Room with Spa Bath was clean and comfortable, perfect for relaxation. However, some updates would enhance the experience, as the bathroom had drainage issues.

The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring I had a nice stay. The hot breakfast was a nice touch, cooked to perfection each morning.
Location

I loved the secluded and quiet location, nestled in a lush woodland. It was a bit further from Byron Bay than I expected, but that made it even more tranquil.
Dining

The breakfast was delicious and served with attention to detail, making every meal a treat. I would have preferred room service options, though.

The on-site day spa was fantastic, offering some of the best massages I’ve ever had. The hot tub area was a nice addition as well.

6.0/10

I recently stayed at Azabu Retreat & Spa, and while the location was tranquil and beautiful, the overall experience was disappointing. The facilities and rooms seemed neglected, and my interactions with the staff left much to be desired. However, the breakfast was genuinely good, and the scenic views from the hotel are undeniably a highlight.

Rooms
5.0
The Queen Room with Spa Bath was in dire need of updates, with dust and old decor making it less than inviting. The small balcony offered a beautiful view, yet the overall condition detracted from the retreat experience.
Service
5.0
My experiences with the staff were frustrating. The receptionist's condescending tone and refusal to provide his name after my inquiry about booking made the service feel unwelcoming and unprofessional.
Location
8.0
The hotel is nestled in a gorgeous area surrounded by nature, providing a serene atmosphere. It's a short drive to Byron Bay, making it convenient yet secluded enough for a getaway.
Dining
6.0
The cooked breakfast on the first morning was excellent, adding a pleasant touch to the stay. However, the second day's offerings, like the fruit and muesli, were lackluster in comparison.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities like the pool appeared unkempt and not inviting. Some areas needed significant repairs, making the stay less enjoyable and comfortable than I'd hoped.
